Maddie's commitment announcement
On September 29, 2026, Maddie announced her verbal commitment to continue her academic and athletic career playing Division I softball at Elon University. "I'm so excited to call Elon HOME!" she wrote, thanking the Phoenix staff for believing in her and Stars National Walker head coach Joe Walker for four years together: "I wouldn't have wanted to spend the past four years with anyone else. You have helped me grow so much, both on and off the field."
A left-handed slapper and outfielder, Maddie was named to the North Carolina all-state team as a sophomore after helping Weddington complete an undefeated season and win the 7A state championship, delivering hits in key moments of the title series against D.H. Conley. She was also an All-Southern Carolina Conference selection.
Her speed out of the left side puts constant pressure on infield defenses, and her range in the outfield lets her track down balls in the gaps. She has competed in the power and premier pools of top tournaments across the country through the summer circuit.
